Once again I have ignored this blog for a long period of time. I don’t know why I do this, maybe its just that life gets in the way, Maybe I have writers block. I find myself staring at the computer screen and having nothing to say, or not knowing what I want to writ about. So with this in mind, I am going to take a page out of my friend Tom Wacker’s approach to his blog. for the next few weeks I’m just gonna try and write whatever is in my head, whether it is TE related or not. I feel that once I get that moving I can focus on putting more detailed, industry-related stuff in the blog and then by this time next year hopefully I will be more consistent in my writing.
Todays post is an obvious one, with the holiday now over, and we now focus on the new year, it is time to reflect over the last year and focus on goals for the next year. Reflecting on the last year, I have not achieved everything I wanted to in 2014, compared to where I was at the end of 2013. I did not pay enough attention to my business, and have been lazy. I suppose I am in that same group that falls in the “non-action takers”, and I will own that, no excuses, no exceptions. I was lazy, and the realization of that irritates the hell out of me. I have to re-look at what I am doing and what I am not doing and make some obvious changes for 2015. I am approaching the end of three years in this business, and basically I have nothing to show for it, other than this blog, and a lot of subscriptions that I am paying for that I have not taken advantage of.
Things that I have accomplished over the last year include, re-connecting with my son, albeit briefly, and we have not spoken since our meeting a little over a month ago, it is a start and I hope that communication continues. I have grown closer to my family, knowing that life is short, and my mother and dad wont be here forever, I hope to spend more time speaking to and seeing my folks this year. I connected with my sisters through Facebook, and now have a continuous connection to see what they are doing. I am thankful for that s well, since I have not seen them since our father passed in ‘96.
My goals for 2015 are simple. Become more active in the TE community and get a project off the ground that has been in my mind since August. I am going to make that leap into program ownership in 2015, and although I am somewhat sure of what I want to do, it is putting it together and getting it out there in the next few months. I have plans for three sites, but will approach one at a time, and I may not have all three open this coming year, but I want two of them out there and open by this time next year. How quickly they all get off the ground will be determined by how the first site goes.
I hope you all had a great holiday, and I hope all the best for you in the New Year. I am looking forward to what 2015 is going to bring. I hope to be smarter, more involved, and out of the rut that I have been in for the last 4 months or so.
