So yeah, I follow more than just football, I am also a ML B fan, NHL Hockey fan, PGA Golf Fan, NASCAR (Before the segment Bullcrap) fan, and yes.. as much as it may shock you, even a WWE fan (more on that later in the week). So today we will focus on Baseball.
I am a diehard Cleveland Indians fan. I follow the Tampa Bay Rays because of where I live, but when it comes to MLB I live and die with the Indians. Being raised in the Cleveland area until I was 12 year old, that part of the country is still part of me, and I am part of it. I have family in NE Ohio, my father and both sets of grandparents are buried in NE Ohio, and I will always have a soft spot in my heart for that part of the country, despite living 1200 miles away in Central Florida for the last 38 years.
With that being said, we are just over a month into the 2017 season, the Indians are hovering around .500, despite having one of the best pitching staffs in the majors. They are 5-5 for their last 10 games and have me scratching my head. Kluber is on the DL for the time being and the lineup just isn’t hitting well. I still think they will come around, but I am concerned they are having a World Series hangover similar to the Panthers in the NFL last year. They gave up a 3-1 series lead to the Cubs and lost game 7 at home in dramatic fashion. I know it’s early, but I am still a bit concerned.
The Yankees are back (Ugh) at the top of the AL East and have the best record in MLB. they have won 6 games in a row, including a 3-game sweep of the Cubs, culminating with an 18 inning classic on Sunday night. Mike & Mike said this morning to start printing your tickets to the world Series and after such a hot start, who’s to argue with them? I spoke with Eliot and Scooter on my show at the end of last season about their hot finish in August and September, no one should be shocked they have picked up where they left off and have a hot start to this season.
The Colorado Rockies are leading the NL West. that’s a mouthful in and of itself, but they have the second best record in the National league trailing only the Nationals by .020 percentage points. They are hot, they are good, and they have three rookies in their starting rotation. I don’t expect it to last, but it is sure fun to watch.
It’s early but the beginning of the season has been fun to watch, and I am looking forward to the rest of the season.
Until tomorrow… Have a great night…
